Save money on your next oil change

If you own a car, you know that there are lots of expenses involved in keeping a vehicle safely on the road. From car payments and insurance to maintenance and car washes, keeping your car running and looking good can put a strain on your wallet. When it comes to having your car’s oil changed, however, there are ways to save a few dollars. Here are a few ways to get a cheap oil change in Mississauga.

Of course, the first way to save money on an oil change is to do it yourself. Changing your car’s oil is actually one of the things that many car owners can do on their own, but it’s not advised if you don’t know what you are doing. Don’t fret if you don’t know how to change you oil yourself, however; there are still lots of ways to save while having someone else do it for you.

First, there are always deals available for oil changes. There is so much competition for business that companies will often put up promotions to try to draw business their way. Check your junk mail. That’s a great place to find notices about promos in your area. You’ll often find coupons and other promos (such as buy 3 oil changes, get 1 free, for example).

If you don’t find coupons in the mail or in your local newspaper, check online. A simple search for coupons in your area might garner surprising results. You can even check the website of your favourite auto shop. They may have promos or coupons on their website. Alternatively, some companies will offer deals in exchange for signing up for their newsletter. All you have to do is provide your email address and agree to allow the company to send you periodic emails.

If you are loyal to a certain company but they don’t have any current coupons, don’t run to the competition just yet. Many businesses will honour or beat competitor’s coupons rather than run the risk of losing the business. It doesn’t hurt to ask, and more often than not they will accept them.

One final word of advice: Business like loyal customers. The longer you stick with a company and form a relationship with the staff, the more likely you are going to be treated well. You may get the inside track on upcoming sales, and the company may even toss you a few extra coupons every now and then. Never underestimate the power of forming a relationship with a local business. The more you support them, the more they’ll be willing to help you out as well.

If your car is ready for its next oil change, there’s really no need to pay full price for your oil change. Between deal sites, coupons and company promos, there’s almost always a way to save a few dollars on each oil change.
